when in Rome

when in Rome

All roads lead to Rome and the roads in Rome are the best! Seriously if you ever make it to Rome just walk around the streets and it is the cutest little town. Everywhere you look there is something so incredible. I loved my time in this beautiful place. I am so glad I went for class and studying because I never would have known as much about Rome without it. Out of all 3 places I went on study abroad, James had the best set up for class. We had a small spiral textbook that we took with us to each museum. We filled in facts and little anecdotes about the artwork and architecture. It taught me so much I’m amazed at how much I still remember.

We packed so much into our weeks in the city. I made a list of most of our activities and when I see it all typed out, I can’t believe how much we accomplished. Most days we did class for part of the day and then the rest we could do whatever we want. There were some days that went longer but it was all fun. I seriously feel like I could go back and remember a lot of the things I learned. This isn’t the full list of things we did but its a lot and some of the favorites.

Some of the incredible art we saw

Yeah so this is a little montage to the architecture and art we saw. I seriously love sculptures. They are so much better in person and in order to fully appreciate them, you have to see them. James mentioned to us one day how most people at museums if they recognize something famous they take a picture of it without actually looking at the work in person. I am so glad I got pictures of these works but it is so much better seeing them in real life. The last sculpture is Bernini’s Abduction of Persephone and its incredible, my favorite. Bernini’s skill is unreal and the people look so lifelike. Seeing the artwork was probably my second favorite thing we did in all of Rome. The only thing I liked more was the gelato! I like the lemon and fruity flavors. But some of my friends liked the chocolate ones which are just as good. You can’t go wrong with gelato! Seriously I had at least one cone a day but its that good!!!

Hey now! Hey now! This is what dreams are made of!

Thank you Lizzie McGuire for going to Rome back in 2003 and making me want to go since then. This was seriously a dream and I am so glad I got to spend it with friend. I couldn’t have imagined a better first visit to Rome! Whenever I make it back, I hope to be recognized as an Italian pop singer lol. Rome you’re a dream! CIAO BELLA
